Confrontation is a tactical role-playing game developed by Cyanide and based on Rackham's miniatures game.[2] The game is set in the fantasy universe of Aarklash, a continent riven by an unending war. The player follows a party of Akkylannian fighters in their quest to seek out and destroy the source of the latest threat posed by the Alchemists of Dirz. Their journey will take them through numerous settings with rich decors where they will encounter other races which populate the continent.

Gameplay

Confrontation aims to reproduce the tactical combat of heroic fantasy classics as Baldur's Gate. The party is made up of 4 characters, chosen by the player amongst 12 available classes. Various synergies are possible and any combination could work to succeed a mission. However, it is far more challenging with an unbalanced party. "In combat, the player can pause the game to issue more sophisticated commands to his characters.". The key is to analyse both opponents and environment before deciding on the strategy best-suited to the situation; especially if the most threatening spells are to be avoided.

Factions

Griffin : Griffins of Akkylannie The Akkylannian people built an empire whose aims are both religious and military. Its devotion to Merin is unquestionable, and the Inquisition reserves a warm welcome for those reckless enough to query the teachings of the god of fire. Since the Heresy of Dirz, and with the impending Rag'narok, the Inquisition is vigilant and the stakes burn both day and night. This is not to the liking of the Temple which seeks to curb its many excesses.

Scorpion: Alchemists of Dirz

The Syhar are depraved scientists, specialized in alchemy and ungodly experiments. Their origins lie within the Empire of Akkylannie, but their quest to create the perfect being led them to be condemned for heresy and they were forced to flee. They found refuge in the desert of Syharhalna where they built secret laboratories in which they blended science and magic to produce an army of clones, with the aim of conquering Aarklash. The most perfect example of their experiments was the half-flesh and half-metal Prime.

Jackal: Orcs of Bran-Ô-Kor

Seeking an army to protect themselves, the Syhars mixed goblin blood with that of men and created the Orcs. Scientifically engineered to be formidable warriors, the orcs broke the chains of slavery and fled to the canyons of Bran-Ô-Kor. Despite the harsh environment, the resilience and strength of the orcs allow them to survive the difficult conditions. They live in packs around raïks, their warlords, and they long for a chief to emerge who can unify the packs and proclaim a sovereign nation!

Wolf : Wolfen of Yllia

The union of Yllia, the Moon goddess, with the leader of a great pack of wolves, lead to the birth of the Wolfen. They are the protectors of nature and on the battlefield they are formidable fighters, guided only by their predatory instincts. Over the centuries, they witnessed the rise of new civilizations who stole the wild lands the Wolfen were supposed to protect. They now see the Rag’narok as the end of that cycle and a chance for nature to impose its law once again. It is time for the kill!

Confrontation PC RELOADED

Scene group RELOADED released the game Confrontation for PC. A really neat-looking Strategy game, I was personally looking forward to this. But recent reviews prove it’s not really that great.. Still gonna try it out,enjoy guys!The game is set in the fantastic and original universe of Confrontation, Aarklash. As the Age of Rag’narok is approaching, four factions are fighting for their own cause and struggling for domination over the land: the brutal Orcs of the Tree-Spirit, the ferocious Wolfen packs, the fearsome Griffon warriors or the terrifying creatures of the Scorpion.

With a core focus on strategy, Confrontation challenges players to lead a squad of elite soldiers, helping them evolve into a unit that is equal parts brain and brawn. Recruit, develop and equip your squadron and the powerful allies that fight by your side; establish new strategies to destroy your enemies! Careful management of your units, their powers and equipment, as well as clever use of your environment will get you through near-death situations and lead you to epic victory!
